Durham Catholic District School Board Recognizes the 2024-2025 Distinguished Catholic Leader

The Durham Catholic District School Board (DCDSB) is pleased to recognize Jennifer Harvey, elementary principal, as the recipient of the 2024-2025 Distinguished Catholic Leader Award. The award was announced following a System-Wide Mass on Monday, May 5, 2025, which also recognized Durham Catholic Distinguished Educators from each school and department across the board, and employees who have 25 years of service in Catholic Education. Ms. Harvey has been part of the DCDSB community for 42 years - first as a student and then as an employee for the past 28 years. Beginning as a classroom teacher, her passion for special education led her to the role of Program Support Teacher, followed by a role as Student Services Coordinator, before becoming an administrator. Ms. Harvey has been an administrator in five different schools and is currently the principal at Sir Albert Love Catholic School. She values all the experiences and the friendships she has made along the way.

Jennifer has been a member of the Catholic Principals’ Council of Ontario (CPCO) Executive for Durham for the past four years, in which she works to support principal and vice-principal colleagues. In addition, Ms. Harvey has been a member of numerous committees within the board. Currently, Ms. Harvey belongs to the Board Staff Wellness Committee, Mental Health and Addictions Steering Committee and represents CPCO on our Board Special Education Advisory Committee. She also participates and contributes to podcasts, videos and interviews with School Mental Health Ontario.

Ms. Harvey’s welcoming nature and commitment to students, families and fellow educators and administrators, are outstanding examples for all of us at the Durham Catholic District School Board. Congratulations, Jennifer Harvey!
