DCDSB Appoints Mikhail Yurkoski as Trustee for the Town of Whitby

At a Special Board Meeting on Wednesday, February 10, 2021, the Durham Catholic District School Board of Trustees appointed Mikhail Yurkoski as Trustee for the Town of Whitby.

A skilled trades professional, graduate of the Durham Catholic District School Board, and active member of Holy Family Parish in Whitby, Mr. Yurkoski believes in the continuous improvement of the student learning environment and ensuring that no child is left behind.

 “We are pleased to welcome Mikhail Yurkoski to the Board of Trustees. His diverse experience in the skilled trades, and prioritization for safe, healthy and inclusive Catholic school communities will support our core commitments to Excellence, Equity and Engagement,” said Morgan Ste. Marie, Chair of the Board.

“Thank you for entrusting me to fulfill the role of Catholic Trustee for the Town of Whitby. I look forward to joining the Board in promoting safety, inclusion and Catholicity in schools, while honouring the importance of sustaining interest in faith formation and spirituality post-graduation,” said Mr. Yurkoski.

During the meeting, 10 candidates delivered prepared speeches to the Board of Trustees, highlighting the reasons why he or she should be selected. The selection was made by trustees in an open voting session which followed the presentations. Mr. Yurkoski will be officially sworn in as a member of the Board of Trustees at the Regular Board Meeting of February 22, 2021.
