DCDSB Announces the 2023 Distinguished Catholic Alumni Award Recipients

On Thursday, May 11, 2023, the Durham Catholic District School Board (DCDSB) recognized seven alumni at the Durham Catholic Children’s Foundation Gala. A graduate from each Durham Catholic secondary school received the Distinguished Catholic Alumni Award. 

“Our Distinguished Catholic Alumni Award recipients are exemplary role models of the Ontario Catholic School Graduate Expectations. Each recipient is a source of inspiration for our current students as they have used their God-given talents to contribute to their chosen field or pathway,” said Tracy Barill, Director of Education. “We are pleased to recognize our distinguished Durham Catholic alumni with these awards”. 

Congratulations to the 2023 Durham Catholic Distinguished Alumni Award recipients:

  • Deborah de Ville, Archbishop Denis O’Connor Catholic High School 
  • Melanie Ruttle, Father Leo. J. Austin Catholic Secondary School 
  • Raina Kamdar, Notre Dame Catholic Secondary School 
  • Aaron David Vandermeer, Monsignor John Pereyma Catholic Secondary School 
  • Andrea Spinner, Monsignor Paul Dwyer Catholic High School 
  • Matthew Vocino, St. Mary Catholic Secondary School
