Recently, the Catholic Curriculum Corporation hosted two special events for Catholic education students and staff.

When Faith Meets Pedagogy Educators Conference

From October 25 to the 27, 25 DCDSB staff attended the When Faith Meets Pedagogy Educators Conference. Held at the Delta Hotels Marriott Toronto Airport & Conference Centre, participants had the opportunity to build and sustain the Catholic capacity of educators through the development and provision of high-quality Catholic curriculum, resources, support and professional development.

This year’s guest speakers were Father Tony Ricard and Devin Boucree. Father Tony is a Priest from the Archdiocese of New Orleans. He is also the Campus Minister and Chair of Theology at St. Augustine High School in New Orleans, the Pastor of St. Gabriel the Archangel Parish and is a Core Instructor of Church Doctrine and Youth Ministry for the Institute for Black Catholic Studies at Xavier University of Louisiana. Devin Boucree is a Theology Teacher at St. Augustine’s and a Music Minister at St. Gabriel’s.

The educators also had the opportunity to attend engaging workshops and celebrate Mass on Friday morning with Most Reverend Francis Leo, Archbishop of Toronto.

When Faith Meets Pedagogy Youth Forum

On October 27, 48 DCDSB students and their chaplains, from all seven secondary schools, attended the When Faith Meets Pedagogy Youth Forum, also held at the Delta Hotels Marriott Toronto Airport & Conference Centre. The Youth Forum brought together over 1,000 Catholic secondary students from around Southern Ontario to be affirmed and energized in their faith.

Again, Father Tony Richard and Devin Boucree provided the keynote address, where together, through spoken word and song, they challenged the students to believe and live out: "You are a moment in God's time. You matter. You are somebody."
