Students and staff at St. Wilfrid Catholic School recently participated in the Socks 4 the Streets initiative, where socks were collected and donated to provide warmth to homeless men, women and children during the winter. Grade 8 students, teachers, and the Program Support team collected socks from each classroom over a two-week period. Students participated by donating socks and created informative posters and morning announcements about why it was important to help those in need on the streets of Toronto and neighboring cities. Socks 4 the Streets is a yearly holiday campaign run by the Indie88 radio station in support of Socks 4 Souls Canada, that invites people living in the Greater Toronto Area to donate socks to the homeless.

At the end of the two-week period, the St. Wilfrid community collected a total of over 1,168 pairs of socks. The initiative was a whole school approach and a wonderful learning opportunity to live and learn in faith as a Catholic learning community.
