On Monday, October 7, board employees, family members and guests gathered at St. Mary of the People Parish in Oshawa for this year’s System-Wide Mass in recognition of all new permanent staff that were hired over the past 12 months.
Father Francisco Fernandez Siles presided at our Eucharistic celebration and offered a homily on the deeper meaning of this year’s spiritual theme, “Living in Hope.”
All present new permanent staff were invited to participate in a special commissioning ceremony led by Director Winn and Father Francisco. Each commissioned staff member received a lit devotional candle to take back to their classrooms and office spaces as a reminder of their call to be people of hope in service to Catholic education.
Following Mass, a time of fellowship and refreshments was enjoyed by attendees. Thank you to the Faith Formation department for organizing this special event!
