Students in Grades 4 to 8 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic School participated in the Hour of Code Day on Friday, December 9, 2022. The students went around to four different holiday-themed centres that included plugged and unplugged coding, such as robotics and unplugged coding grids. While coding, students created snowmen, Christmas carols, and shelves for the Elf on the Shelf.  Watch the Hour of Code video here.

thumbnail_IMG_3522Grade 10 Tech Students from Monsignor John Pereyma Catholic Secondary School, collaborated with St. Bernadette Catholic School in the co-construction of Saint Boniface wooden ornaments. Students were engaged in the many ways Catholics see God in the symbol of the Christmas tree.  The most common thread being the the relationship between the trinity and the tree. This was an initiative funded by OYAP.

IMG_1516Students and staff at St. Wilfrid Catholic School recently participated in the  Socks 4 the Streets  initiative, where socks were collected and donated to provide warmth to homeless men, women and children during the winter. Grade 8 students, teachers, and the Program Support team collected socks from each classroom over a two-week period. DSC_4477Through a partnership with Dogwood Forest, Kindergarten students across the DCDSB will have the opportunity to participate in outdoor experiential learning opportunities. On December 14 th , Kindergarten students from St. Hedwig Catholic School visited the DCDSB Catholic Education Centre and engaged in hands-on learning in the newly built trails and outdoor learning space.
