In the 2023-2024 school year, we focused on supporting First Nation, Métis, and Inuit students’ well-being and achievement through the Indigenous Student Circle, Indigenous Education Days for Grades 3-5 students, and the year-end Indigenous Student Graduation celebration. Working with educators from across the system, the Indigenous Education team focused on land-based learning for Kindergarten - Grade 12 students, guided by First Nation Knowledge Keepers. By featuring Indigenous-centred resources aligned with curriculum for both the English and French programs, all educators had access to diverse and abundant online supports. A highlight of the year was the number of guests and Knowledge Keepers invited into schools to lead learning sessions for students.
