About Daniel
Daniel Stargratt is the Assistant Superintendent of Indigenous Education and is a co-lead that oversees the West Family of Schools which entails Ajax and Pickering.
With 28 years of experience in Catholic and First Nation schools, Daniel has served as a teacher, vice-principal, principal and system leader. During his 20 year tenure as a principal, Daniel focused on creating an inviting and inclusive environment for student to thrive. He worked in partnership with local First Nation, Metis and Inuit community partners. He also teaches future educators at Queen’s University, Nipissing University and Lakehead University.
His leadership centres on leading and supporting opportunities for equitable outcomes for Indigenous students, strengthening Indigenous community/family engagement, and creating a culture of collaboration and shared learning. His focus is moving the Truth and Reconciliation Calls to Action within the DCDSB.
