About Tracy
Tracy Barill is an accomplished educational and faith leader currently serving as the Director of Education for the Durham Catholic District School Board. With over 17 years of experience as a member of the Board’s Senior Administrative Team, Tracy has demonstrated unwavering commitment to innovative leadership and excellence in Catholic Education. Her expertise spans various domains including strategic planning, instructional leadership, human resources services, budget management, and fostering equitable and inclusive education.
Tracy's career highlights include spearheading major initiatives such as the implementation of Full Day Kindergarten, the expansion of French Immersion programming and the establishment of the Regional Arts and Media Program. She has led board improvement planning efforts and played a pivotal role in enhancing student achievement and well-being across the district. Tracy is particularly known for her efforts to build positive, respectful relationships and promote a culture of collaboration and support. Her commitment to ensuring inclusive, safe, and welcoming learning and working environments are evident in her leadership approach.
A systems thinker with exceptional communication skills, Tracy has also contributed significantly to community engagement. She is known for her ability to navigate challenging change processes for positive outcomes and her dedication to fostering student voice and engagement. Among other accomplishments, Tracy holds an Executive Program Certificate from the Smith School of Business at Queen’s University, which further enhances her capacity for strategic leadership and organizational management. Her extensive academic background, including a Master's Degree in Religious Education, and ongoing professional development reflect her commitment to continuous improvement and excellence in education.
