During the month of February, the DCDSB, like many organizations across the country, celebrates Black History Month. As a Catholic learning community, we are committed to promoting equity and inclusion in all our schools and workplaces by recognizing the diverse backgrounds of all members of our community.
Our focus is to move beyond Black History Month, and to acknowledge and celebrate the contributions, culture, history, and achievements of Black students, staff, families, and communities every day. While the importance of Black History Month cannot be over-emphasized, the we are committed to supporting and celebrating Black excellence, and to having Black history recognized as Canadian history, through culturally responsive and relevant programs and initiatives that promote equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging.
The following resources have been created to provide students, families, and community members with information and resources to support and celebrate Black history and Black excellence.
We invite you to subscribe to receive emails with information, resources, and supports that are specific for Black students and families.
